Pancho Gomez is the Director of Business Development at The Coconut Cult, a disruptive company that produces powerfully probiotic coconut yogurt. Like most of the young company’s small team, Pancho does not have a background in the natural foods CPG space. Before The Coconut Cult’s co-founders initiated him into the cult, he managed sales operations in the solar industry and customer experience teams in cloud-based business management software.
Over the last two years, The Coconut Cult developed a robust DTC subscription-based online channel and a DSD distribution model with several hundred retailers nationwide. Their growth is propelled by an unconventional approach that leverages social media, quirky branding, and authentic relationships with consumers and influencers. The Coconut Cult does not work with any distributors, copackers, or brokers and does not have a dedicated marketing budget. For all intents and purposes, they really are a cult, just a less creepy, more fun one.
